Knitter's Week-end

Arrive April 30; depart May 2 for our "Knitter's Meet the Critters" week-end. We will vist alpaca, sheep and llama farms as well as cashmere goats. We'll learn what it takes to care for the animals and harvest the fleece. On a visit to a sustainable farm and fiber mill, we'll see how the fleece is processed and made into the wonderul yarns we love. Friday evening, after dinner here at the B&B, you'll meet with Mary Lou. A certified knitting instructor and shop owner, she will spend the evening showing you "tips and tricks" to make knitting more enjoyable.

Join the Hardy Boat Puffin Cruise and you will see puffins. The 1 - hour cruise with an Audubon naturalist leaves each day at 5:30 from New Harbor. You will observe the Atlantic puffin at Egg Rock where they nest and spend a brief part of the summer. Almost driven to extinction, these interesting birds are making a remarkable comeback due in large part to the Audubon Society and Project Puffin.

After returning to the wharf, go upstairs to Shaw's Lobster Pound an enjoy a fresh seafood dinner while overlooking the fishing boats anchored at New Harbor.

Leave on the Hardy Boats out of New Harbor at 9:00 AM. Take "breakfast to go" specially prepared for you at the B&B and enjoy the trip out to Monhegan Island. Explore the island's wonderful trails and cliff vistas, go birding or watch the artist's at work in this beautiful natural setting. Visit the galleries and the museum. Make the return trip in the late afternoon. When you arrive back at the dock, wander upstairs to Shaw's Lobster Pound and enjoy the freshest seafood dinner around!
